- You are correct. There are serial boards/ports that are capable of over
- 115,200 which is merely a "standards" constraint set by Intel/IBM at the
- early stages of PC Development. Many of the serial boards used by BBS's
- Internet providers routinely go over 115,200 more commonly 230,000.
- You do not need special drivers in all cases however, our AMQUEST
- HyperModem will set the DTE rate at 230,000 using STANDARD software
- you already own. You simply set it at 115,200 and it through our
- proprietary firmware hardware on the modem defaults to the higher
- 230,000 throughput rate maximum. You are however correct in that most
- if not all other approaches ie: Hayes ESP apparently require special
- drivers
- and special additional hardware and special new software to do the same.
- Note: This is our Internal version of 28.8 and 28.8 voice products called
- AMQUEST HyperModems. They also have more powerful microprocessors
- and better compression so that they can hit rates up to 230,000 over a
- standard line with compression. YOU DO NOT NEED ANYTHING ELSE
- IT IS ALL BUILT INTO THE MODEM WHICH IS BASED ON A TURBOCHARGED ROCKWELL
- DESIGN.
